Canvas: Venus de Milo

on BBC One London

Dug up in a field in 1820, for over a century she's been the symbol of feminine perfection - this mutilated giantess with a figure measuring 43-37-47. One contemporary report says that she was found intact. So what happened to her arms? And under what curious circumstances did the signed corner of her plinth vanish completely?
Yvonne Mitchell, the actress and writer, visits the Louvre in Paris and tries to piece together the many contradictions that make up the story of the Venus de Milo.
