Michael Berkeley's guest today is award-winning TV director Barrie Gavin, who in the course of his career has directed over 300 documentaries and films, many on musical subjects. Among these are 12 films on 20th-century music with Pierre Boulez and 20 with the conductor Simon Rattle. His musical choices include Asian and British folk music, works by Boulez and Bartok, Szymanowski's Stabat Mater and Elgar's Symphony No 2 in E flat.
