From Bradford Cathedral. Conducted by the Provost, the Very Rev. John G. Tiarks
Have you ever asked yourself what sort of impression Jesus made on people in the days of his flesh '? Many people have never ' grown up ' in their thoughts about him. They first heard of him, when they were children, and he was ' gentle Jesus ' and such he has remained. He is all that, but how much more. If we read the Gospels again we shall see that when he spoke men knew that he ought to be obeyed. In fact, his preaching could be summed up in two words of command' come ' and go.' The world-wide Christian Church today sprang from a small group of men who heard those words of command and obeyed. And that is where we must all start. The events of Our Lord's life which this service looks at are recorded in St. Luke's Gospel, chapter 5, verses I to 11, and St. Mark's Gospel, chapter 3, verses 13 to 19.
