3: My Fair Lady. When My Fair Lady opened on Broadway in 1956, it ran for six and a half years, winning Tony awards for direction, scenic design, costumes, musical direction, and one for its leading man Rex Harrison. Aftertransferringto the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, the show ran for a further five and a half years making it one of the most successful musicals of all time. Donald Macleod discusses the history behind My Fair Lady .with musicals enthusiast Adrian Edwards.
Music includes excerpts from My Fair Lady performed by cast members and chorus of the original Broadway production with the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by John Owen Edwards.
