Afternoon Play: Our Man in Athens

Tom Holland's adaptation of Thucydides's History of the Peloponnesian War. A veteran war reporter finds himself under siege in the studios of Radio Free Athens. As time runs out, it is his last chance to leave a record of the truth for future generations. BBC correspondent John Simpson plays Thucydides in this contemporary retelling of the war between two ancient enemies - Athens and Sparta.
With special appearances by Michael Buerk, Corrie Corfield, Gavin Hewitt and Bridget Kendall.
