October 1917 - a Royal Flying Corps squadron somewhere in France.
The latest recruit to this most dangerous of assignments is Stephen Croft , who finds the small group of officers under intolerable strain. This spectacular film set at the height of World War I interweaves memorable action sequences with the dramatic story of men at war. The screenplay is based on R. c. SHERRIFF'S classic play, Journey's End.
