Art and the Human Condition

on BBC Radio 3

Martin Kemp talks to artists about the way they treat the question of what it is to be alive today.
2: States of Consciousness
Antony Gormley is a sculptor who works with the human figure, the most traditional form of humanist art. He uses his own body to form empty lead cases, which he puts in iconic attitudes - standing, lying or tumbling. More recently, he has created a field of gazing faces, which draws spectators into its midst.
