A selection of famous early films of the world's greatest comedian to mark his eightieth birthday next month.
Tonight: The Rink
With Edna Purviance, Henry Bergman, Albert Kelley
Charlie, the world's worst waiter, woos Edna at the skating rink and runs rings around his rivals.
The Rink and the other Chaplin vintage films to be shown during the next few weeks were made in Chaplin's most prolific years, between 1914 and 1917. The films are special sound versions with intelligent and informative commentaries which don't attempt to score off the material.
