H. Norton Matthews
Two true stories of chance meetings in Central Africa, one of them having its conclusion in a certain town in the West Country
H. Norton Matthews has broadcast to the West of England many accounts of his exciting adventures. Some of his more notable thrills include: climbing Vesuvius whilst it was in eruption ; walking under the Niagara Falls ; being shown how to crack off the heads of snakes in the Matopo Hills ; and seeing some thousand elephants at close quarters, then running faster than he had ever run before.
His first broadcast was made from
Copenhagen in 1927, when he spoke on English public schools.
