Harry Engleman's Quintet

on Regional Programme London

View in Radio Times

with Vernon Adcock (xylophone)

This combination consists of Harry Engleman (piano), Marjorie Astbury (who is the leader), Leslie Clay, Haydn Yorke (cello), and Reg Whittaker (bass).

It has been broadcasting regularly for about three years - recently with Vernon Adcock as xylophonist - and its gramophone records are popular. The Quintet topped the bill last year at the London Palladium and is doing the same again this year, on December 4. Harry Engleman himself broadcasts with the Aston Hippodrome Orchestra as pianist, and is also pianist with the Midland Revue Orchestra.
