Station Island

on BBC Radio 3

Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney reads his long poem set on the ancient island shrine of Lough Derg which follows a poet's pilgrimage towards wholeness and illumination. The whole narrative takes place within what Heaney describes as "the big acoustic" of Dante's Divine Comedy, of which it is a model in miniature.
