Actress and singer Bette Midler pays tribute to singer/songwriter Laura Nyro, whose four studio albums of the late 1960s never caught on with American record buyers like the big-hit cover versions of her songs - Stoned Soul Picnic (the 5th Dimension), Eli's Coming (Three Dog Night), And When I Die (Blood, Sweat and Tears), Stoney End (Barbra Streisand) and, most triumphantly, Wedding Bell Blues (the 5th Dimension).
Nyro died of cancer in 1997, aged 49, and is recalled affectionately here by media mogul David Geffen, singer/songwriters Janis Ian, Suzanne Vega and Todd Rundgren, and Nyro's son Gil Bianchini.
