An appeal on behalf of the Artists' General Benevolent Institution by Sir John Martin-Harvey , D.Litt., LL.D.
The Artists' General Benevolent Institution, which was established in 1814 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1842, was formed for the purpose .of helping professional artists-painters, sculptors, engravers, and artists. It helps them over difficulties caused by temporary distress or unmerited neglect, as well as those due to illness, blindness, and old age. Relief is also given to their widows and orphans. The Institution is "principally dependent on voluntary subscriptions, and the war adds to the calls on it.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged, and should be addressed to Sir John Martin-Harvey, [address removed]
