Edward G. Robinson , who rose to stardom with his memorable performance as a gangster in Little Caesar, here plays Dr Clitterhouse, an eminent physician fascinated by the physiological effects of crime on the criminal. In order to test his theories, he embarks on a highly successful series of burglaries and thefts. But once his research is completed, he does not find it so easy to abandon his new way of life.
