The richest tournament in the history of golf gets under way. Sixteen three-man teams meet in the first round of matchplay and$100,000 a piece awaits each member of the victorious side in Sunday's final. The defending champions, Australia, are led by Open Champion GREG NORMAN ,
Spain by SEVVY BALLESTEROS, Japan by TOMMY NAKAJIMA , Scotland by SANDY LYLE ,
England by HOWARD CLARK , Wales by IAN WOOSNAM and Ireland by DAVID FEHERTY. Last year's runners-up, the USA, will field three of the world's best and join the seeded teams as one of the favourites.
