The battle lines are drawn as The Morning Show on BBC1 (10.00am) takes on ITV1 rival This Morning in a daytime ratings war. The BBC's magazine, produced by the news department, is its first two-hander since Anne Diamond and Nick Owen graced the sofa between 1992 and 1996.
The new incumbents are Nicki Chapman and Robert Nisbet (right). Nisbet has fired the first salvo. "The show's designed to offer an intelligent alternative to other daytime programmes," he says, provocatively. "It will help to raise the level of debate about the big issues of the day."
But a spokeswoman for This Morning which starts 30 minutes later, told us they weren't worried: "Our viewing figures have gone up quite significantly since we returned in September and we're sure our audience will stay with us." Stay tuned.
