In St Louis, among the soldiers returning from the Civil War, three old friends meet again. When news comes of an Indian rising Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill Cody, together with Calamity Jane, are soon in the thick of the fight.
Based on real incidents during the period following the Civil War, Cecil B. de Mille's spectacular Western proved to be one of Gary Cooper's most popular films.
