A series of six programmes which follow the fortunes of people who have decided to risk a dramatic change in their lives. 3: Living Together
' We all have to come to terms with dying, but going into an old people's home is often a very harsh way of having it stated. Nobody wants you, is the way a lot of people look at it.'
(DELIA DUMARESQ , social worker)
Just over a year ago, three old people who could no longer go on living alone, but didn't want to go into an institution, were invited by Camden Social Services to try living together in a specially-adapted flat.
Hedda is a 92-year-old former concert pianist with failing eyesight; Tom is 76 and very lonely; Henry is an old soldier of 72 who is too frail to live alone in his bedsitter.
This is the story of how the three of them try, against the odds, late in their lives, to come to terms with sharing and caring for each other. Three people with very different pasts attempting to make a future together.
