The Wiltshire Antiquary by Geoffrey Grigson
John Aubrey , friend of Thomas Hobbes and Anthony a Wood and the 'discoverer' of Avebury, was born near Malmesbury in 1626 and died at Oxford in 1697, leaving quantities of entertaining material about places and people, much of which is unpublished.
Geoffrey Grigson , who is to talk about Aubrey this evening, was born at Pelynt, near Looe, where his father was Vicar for more than thirty years. He used to edit the book pages of the Morning Post ; he now edits New Verse. He himself writes poems, and has reviewed books and poetry in many periodicals. On May 20 he broadcast a talk entitled ' Cornish Village Revisited '.
