As part of Radio 3's New China season Isabel Hilton investigates the phenomenal growth of China's cities.
Over the past 20 years some 250 million Chinese have moved from the countryside to the city and it is estimated that 150 brand-new cities are needed to cope with the continuing migration. What kind of cities are the Chinese creating? What will be the impact on the social, economic and cultural life of the people who live in them?
