When Gwen arrived at Virginia Lodge she found David there unexpectedly visiting her parents. He begged her to go back to him, but she refused. Peter Langley has returned to England and Janet told him that she had got a iob in Hong Kong, so that they would be there together; he seemed pleased, but wondered if she had been wise. Maggs came to see Mrs. Dale about converting the drawing-room into a flat for her mother; but Mrs. Freeman has quite made up her mind that she is going to stay with Sally when she leaves the nursing home.
