Last week the Dales returned from their holiday. Since Dr. Dale met John Graham" he had felt restless and discontented. However, after he had visited Grahame'r home, he told Mrs. Dale he was no longer envious but sorry for him, because Grahame's family was not affectionate. Jenny and Peter Kingston spent a few days at Maidenhead with Peter's aunt. At Gimlet Green the Misses Pimm from Brimscombe House accidentally broke an ornament. They were much upset because they thought they might have jeopardised the chances of more visits from the Home to the cottage. Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Dale arranged to do Gerda's work while she was on leave. Gwen and David were prevented from spending their holiday with David's people in Wales because one of his brothers had whooping cough.
