Two new plays were among the productions mounted to celebrate Samuel Beekett 's 70th birthday this spring. James Knowlson. Senior Lecturer in French at Reading University, considers the visual and musical elements in Beckett's theatrical imagery and the way in which these images reflect emotions and ideas.
