Holiday

on BBC One London

Introduced by Cliff Michelmore
Why should your holiday start and end in Heathrow, Gatwick or Luton? Increasingly, tour companies use provincial airports more convenient for holidaymakers living outside the South East. Anne Gregg flew from East Midlands airport to the quiet, undiscovered side of Majorca for a villa versus hotel comparison.
The Loire Valley with its impressive chateaux and suave scenery, is not immediately associated with a family holiday. But when John Carter sampled a drive-yourself deal to self-catering chalets set in the grounds of a stately home, he discovered lots of young families, many visiting France for the first time.
For his third report in Travellers' Britain, Derek Cooper crosses the wild Yorkshire moors to the old fishing port of Whitby.
