THE CRITICISM OF ARCHITECTURE

on Third Programme

View in Radio Times

by Robert Furneaux Jordan
F.R.I.B.A.
Why is it only in recent years that the architectural critic has emerged to take his place with the critics of other arts? In reflecting upon this, Mr. Jordan gives his views of the ways in which architectural criticism differs from other forms -not least in its power to intervene before building actually takes place-and of why modern building should need an intermediary to explain it to the public.
