by HM The Queen
In a ceremony almost as old as Parliament itself, HM The Queen drives in procession from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster to inaugurate the new session of Parliament.
From the throne in the House of Lords, Her Majesty commands Black Rod to summon the members of the House of Commons to attend, and delivers the speech written for her by the Government, outlining the plans for the forthcoming legislation in this Parliamentary Session. Commentators PETER SNOW
