Private Passions

on BBC Radio 3

Michael Berkeley's guest this week is actor John Sessions, whose stage, film and television appearances have included The American Napoleon, In the Bleak Midwinter, Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Tom Jones.
Last Christmas, he created a stir when he appeared on Private Passions as his alter ego 112-year-old percussionist Manfred Sturmer. Today he appears as himself. His choices range from two late works by Beethoven and Brahms, a movement of Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto, extracts from Wagner's Ring and Puccini's Turandot and vocal music by Schubert and Mose Allison.
