This programme reveals the intricate diversity and beauty of animal life along the course of the greatest river in the world as it plunges three miles vertically down through cloud, forest and gorge. It portrays in dramatic detail the complex life of the trees and rivers of the Amazon rain-forest - home of gorgeous birds and innumerable monkeys, the piranha and even a bat that catches frogs.
