Arthur Askey has been one of the most familiar faces in show business for nearly 60 years. He starred in the first television comedy series, the first radio comedy series, and in 1911 as a choirboy he sang the first solo in the new Liverpool Cathedral at the dedication service of the Lady Chapel.
