BBC Proms 1996

on BBC Radio 3

Tonight's second concert from the Royal Albert Hall marks the Proms debuts of early music director Philippe Herreweghe and his chorus and orchestra from Ghent. The conductor brings his expressive and gently inflected style of performance to bear on one of the great Bach cantatas, a festive motet, and one of the lesser-known but endlessly inventive short Latin masses.

Vasilka Jezovsek (soprano), Andreas Scholl (countertenor), James Taylor (tenor), Peter Kooy (bass), Chorus and Orchestra of Ghent Collegium Vocale, conductor Philippe Herreweghe
