From the West Country.
To mark the anniversary of the launching of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's steamship the SS Great Britain in July 1843, a new musical, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, celebrating the achievements of the Victorian engineer and inventor, is to open in Bristol. Tonight's programme airs some songs and talks to the composers, while Tim Rice considers the genre of the historico-musical.
Also, Haggis McLeod explores the Chinese traditions of juggling and acrobatics and talks to members of the troupe from the visiting Chinese State Circus. And musician
Julian Bream, who is now 60, looks back on a life wrestling with the frets.
