Outside the Rules

on BBC One London

In the conclusion to yesterday's story, the Tom and Natalie try to flush out the Carpenter. Contains scenes of violence.

Outside the Rules 9.00pm BBC1
Another young woman has died, a victim of the white-robed sadist known as the Carpenter, in the concluding part of this "crime doubles" story. And forensic psychologist Natalie Vine (Daniela Nardini) is still attempting to chip away at traumatised survivor Tom Meredith in an effort to unlock his memories, which are bubbling just under the surface.
As you'd expect from these kind of dramas, the relationship between psychologist and patient is a close one - too close for Natalie's comfort - but as Tom seems a genuine and decent man, obviously she's not going to go for him. No, Natalie prefers madmen who terrorise and beat her. And steal from her - it turns out that her rotten boyfriend has taken her file on the Carpenter case and gone to the newspapers.
Meanwhile, as ever, it all becomes very personal when the Carpenter focuses his homicidal attentions on Natalie.
This may be called Outside the Rules, but in fact it plays very much inside the rules of television crime dramas. (Alison Graham)
