A group of seven talks
1-Wer and History by N. H. Gibbs
Chichele Professor of the History of War in the University of Oxford
Reviewing the growth of the liberal tradition of British historiography during the past century, Professor Gibbs protests that ' we have too often simply labelled war an evil without analysing its nature; we have avoided the study of the history of war because we have considered war " bad." But this,' he adds, ' is not the way of wisdom in any form of human experience.'
