5: Jan Potocki : The Manuscript Found in Saragossa. The extraordinary story of Polish adventurer, ethnographer, aristocrat and activist Jan Potocki (1761-1815). Written in French, his novel The Manuscript Found in Saragossa combines horror, philosophy and Enlightenment rationalism, and anticipates techniques of horror-writing used by novelists today.
