19—' The Bombs '
Written and produced by Alan Burgess
From the early days of the war the Army Bomb Disposal Units were at work defusing and removing various types of bombs dropped by Hitler's Air Force, and many gallant soldiers lost their lives in this hazardous task.
In January 1943 a large calibre bomb fell in central London which on examination was found to embody a characteristic that intended it not only to be more formidable as an anti-handling and booby trap than any other type so far made, but to be proof against any known technique or equipment.' The Bomb Disposal Directorate faced a dilemma which, if not solved immediately, would place the Allies' war efforr in grave jeopardy.
