English Eccentrics

on BBC Radio 3

The first in an occassional series on eccentrics in the modern world.
Jonathan Barnes , brother of author Julian, is professor of ancient philosophy at Oxford. He habitually dresses in breeches, black stockings and frilly shirts. Barnes enjoys the mixed response to his flamboyant 18th-century attire, and has actively chosen to embrace eccentricity.
