Hearts of Gold

on BBC One London

Esther Rantzen is joined by her two co-presenters, Carol Smillie and Mickey Hutton, for the series that gives the Hearts of Gold Award to unsung heroes and heroines from all over the UK who have shown outstanding bravery and dedication.

This week, Jill Dando helps perpetrate an elaborate hoax in order to reward five men who pulled an unconscious man from a car submerged in a river.
Awards also go to an 88-year-old lady who, for 40 years, has helped people care for their pets; an 11-year-old who saved her brother's life; and a woman who gets the surprise of her life when friends, family and colleagues gather to celebrate her devotion to ill and disabled children.
