A programme for children under five
The following letter came from a girl of nearly eight: 'My mummy said that our baby was the youngest one to listen to "Listen with Mother" because she is two months old and she coos when she hears your music and story because she likes them.'
So here at last is our youngest listener!
Does two months seem incredibly young? Well, perhaps we agree! It does seem true, however, that our under-fives begin to respond to their programme very early and are often first attracted by the daily introductory chimes, whence they graduate by successive stages to an all-absorbing interest in the story. For those at this point, today and tomorrow Daphne Oxenford tells B. A. Clayton's tale of 'The Three Naughty Pussycats,' and on Thursday 'The Little Cat in the Haystack' by Mollie Craven. Wednesday and Friday bring Dorothy Smith with 'The Sunday School Outing' by E.R. Hutt and 'Patrick and the Milkman's Horse' by Charlotte Mitchel. Lorna Pegram introduces the programmes.
