The End of the Line?: 3

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Thirty years after John Betjeman 's BBC television film, Metroland, poet Roger McGough travels round England by train and tram to reflect on what he sees from the steamed-up window.

This week he takes the Manchester Metro for an architectural journey from Piccadilly to Salford Quays, picking up tips about lugs, lips and LS Lowry on the way, and remembering George Best, a blonde and a bottle of bubbly.
