At the beginning of the sixties, Gil Evans made two highly original orchestral albums which were a perfect expression of his art. They were Out of the Cool and The Individualism of Gil Evans.
Kenny Wheeler , Canadian born but a British resident since
1952, is steeped in the work of Ellington and Evans, but is universally recognised as an original composer and trumpet stylist, a reputation confirmed by his debut album, Windmill Tilter.
