Smuggling, intrigue and murder are part of a world far from the mind of archaeologist David Red fern. He is on his way to supervise the dispatch of a newly discovered collection of antiquities in Tunis, but a torrential storm, a chance encounter with gun-runners and, suddenly, jealousy and violence open up to him. He is to learn the meaning of an inscription on a salamander, one of the treasures-' Not by ignoring evil does one overcome it, but by going to meet it'. Screenplay by VICTOR CANNING
