Margaret Birley's Diary

on BBC Radio 4 FM

In 1912, Margaret Birley , an Edwardian young lady. rowed down the Seine with her family and described their adventures in her diary.
In 1918, now a mother and a widow, she served the wounded and dying in field hospitals on the Western Front.
Today, at 90, MARGARET BIRLEY remembers how her life and the whole world changed completely in six short years and Eve Karpf reads from the diaries which preserve those pictures from the past. Producer HELEN FRY
