CHRISTOPHER WHELEN talks about his dual role as composer and librettist and describes how, after working with Vernon Scannell , the poet, on his radio opera The Cancelling Dark, he moved on with the next Incident at Owl Creek, to adapting Ambrose Bierce 's story himself. He then discusses why, in The Findings his latest radio opera, he started with an original idea, created his own characters and used speech and music himself In attempting a more personal form of total musical theatre.
