A Radio Debut
A microphone tour of the theatre by S. H. Newsome and David Gretton followed by Variety from the Stage including
Harry Roy and his Band and excerpts from the supporting acts
It is nearly five years since the Coventry Hippodrome had its first broadcast. A new theatre has now been built. The broadcast this evening will begin with a tour of the building, which seats two thousand and has one of the largest stages in the provinces. Although nearly twice as wide as the old theatre the back seats are no farther from the stage than they were before. Acoustically the new Hippodrome is as perfect as modern science can make it and the demands of broadcasting have been specially considered. There is a studio designed specially for broadcasts by the orchestra, and on each side of the proscenium arch is a BBC commentator's room.
