One of the most famous love stories in history was the tragic affair between Crown Prince Rudolf, heir to the Emperor Franz-Josef, and the beautiful Maria Vetsera.
Frustrated politically by his autocratic father, irritated by his wife and bored by his mistress, Rudolf seems condemned to an arid life until a chance meeting with the innocent, 22-year-old Maria sweeps him into a whirlwind of passion and intrigue.
