A-Level English

on BBC Radio 4 FM

A series about English writing and writers, planned in conjunction with a National Extension College correspondence course, primarily to assist adults intending to take the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in English.
2: The First World War
' Wilfred Owen and most of those now known as poets of the First World War began the war writing poetry in the conventional modes of thinking and feeling that are summed up in the title " Georgian weekend Poets." It was the experience of the war which jolted them out of those conventions to find new and probably more adequate ways to express their experience.'
Radio tutor, DAVID GRUGEON
Last week's broadcast (Study on 3) Enquiries about the correspondence course should be addressed to the National Extension College. 8 Shaftesbury Road. Cambridge
