Whicker's World: Kuwait

on BBC One London

"How do you spend £600,000 a day?"
Alan Whicker in Kuwait.

A primitive Arab tribe, tired of wandering across the desert, settled on a tiny patch of coastline at the very tip of the Persian Gulf. It was a desolate spot where nothing grew and fresh water was insufficient, so they built dhows and traded with other Arabs on the Gulf. Today Kuwait is the world's richest, most affluent society, for under the sand they discovered the richest single cache of crude oil in the world.
How has sudden astronomic wealth affected Kuwaitis - how are they coping?
