Mrs. Maggs and Mrs. Dale met outside the Labour Exchange, and agreed to go back to each other. Sallv and Annette came to stay with the Dales for the weekend, as Richard Fulton had gone to Manchester for the first night of his play. Alec and Miriam decided that Janet should go and stay with Miriam's parents in Canada for six months. Dr. Dale was being very overworked because of a 'flu epidemic. Sue Douglas went down with 'flu, and had to be looked after at Virginia Lodge.
