The Improbable Dream

on BBC Radio 3

Do you like avant-garde music? Is it music that everyone can appreciate and enjoy? This was the dream of Luigi Nono, the leading Italian composer who died last year.
Graham Fawcett investigates Nono's music and ideas, in conversation with fellow musicians including Pierre Boulez , Alexander Goehr and Michael Gielen , and Italian trade unionists who attended Nono's concerts for workers in the 1970s.
