by Sir Conrad Corfield , K.C.I.E.
The ten-year history of independent India and Pakistan has been coloured and clouded by the unresolved problem of Kashmir. Sir Conrad Corfield, who served in the Indian Civil Service from 1920 to 1947, principally in the Indian States, discusses both the origins of the problem and its present appearance.
Believing that ' the interests of not only India and Pakistan but the future of the Commonwealth and perhaps the peace of the world are involved,' Sir Conrad argues the case for * a plan for early compromise under Commonwealth auspices.'
